Lindy was built as a Motor Fishing Vessel in England in 1944. She was converted to a Sailing Vessel 30 years ago. Kit Africa designed the Ketch Sailing Rig and the Northwest School of Wooden Boat Building and Northwest Sails, in Port Townsend, made the Sails, Main Mast, Booms and Rigged the boat in 2000 and her rig was updated in 2010 (New Sails, New Main Mast, Re-Finish Mizzen Mast, New Standing and Running Rigging). Lindy has been excellently maintained and upgraded throughout her life, securing her future afloat. She is ready for her next adventurers!

See 'Upgrades and Major Repairs' on Full Spec Sheet for more details!

She was initially built for the war effort in England, however, the war ended prior to her launch. She was sold in to private use and fished for many years. After around 1990, when she was converted to a Motor Sailing Vessel she sailed across the Atlantic and was moored in Florida. The current owner purchased her there in 1998 and took the boat to Honduras to rebuild her. The top 3’ of Planking, Stanchions, Deck Beams forward of the Wheelhouse, Bulwarks and Decks were replaced. Then they headed for Alaska. Over the past 20 years she has sailed extensively in Alaska and been continually upgraded! The vessel is currently used as a support vessel for remote Alaskan villages for the owner’s electrical company.

Lindy has a MARAD Exemption so the vessel can Charter in Alaska with up to 12 passengers. The Exemption could be expanded to other areas.

There is an Entry Door from the back of the House into a Mudroom. There is a small Library on the starboard side and a counter with a Refrigerator on the port side. Moving forward, there is a Dining Area with a Settee for 8 people on the starboard side. Across from the Dining Area on the port side is an L-shaped Galley. A Chart Room is forward of the Settee. A Companionway with two steps up leads forward to the raised Wheelhouse.

The Wheelhouse contains a Steering Station on the port side with two Bench Seats which seat three people to starboard and one person to port. The Wheelhouse has two doors on either side that go out to the side decks.

There is a companionway leading from the Wheelhouse forward to the Lower Decks. Starting from the bow there is a large Chain and Rope Locker. From the Chain Locker there is a ladder to a Doghouse Scuttle Hatch for Deck Access. Immediately aft of this locker is a spacious Head and Shower Stall, which is connected to the Main Stateroom. The Main Stateroom has a 2-person Berth along the starboard wall. There is a Starboard Stateroom with 2 Bunks and a Port Stateroom with one Large Berth and Dresser. There is also an Amidships Head and Shower. At the end of the hall to the port side is a shop with a generator.

The Engine Room is spacious with the Main Engine, Fuel Tanks and another Generator, aft of the shop space. Aft of the Engine Room is the Aft Stateroom with a Double Berth to starboard and a Double Bunk on the port side. The Aft Head and Shower on the port side. There is a ladder to a Doghouse Scuttle Hatch with access to the aft deck. Aft of the Aft Stateroom is a Lazarette with the Rudder Post and Fresh Water Accumulation Tanks.

Last Haul Out: 2019

Last Engine/Generator Service: January 2020, next service this winter
